YAC Mission

The mission of St. John's YAC, in concert with St. John the Baptist School, is to facilitate the activities these young people should use in developing values, attitudes, self-discipline, skills, and resulting behaviors necessary to become lifelong learners and productive individuals in an ever changing world.  Their potential, currently recognized or not, shall be encouraged to develop through equal participation in extracurricular fostered by the YAC.  This is intended to facilitate their growth and development toward full realization of their God-given educational, physical, social, and emotional abilities.  The YAC effectiveness and efficiency will be enhanced by partnering with the School's Mission Statement.

About YAC

St. John's YAC Board is made up of 11 members who volunteer their time and talents to the youth of St. John's.  All of these members, are parents of St. John's students.  The YAC is directly responsible to the Principal of St. John's and follows all guidelines set forth by the Pastor, Principal, and School Board.

The YAC sponsors many activities at St. John the Baptist:

1. Support of all the athletic programs for our students. This includes purchasing uniforms and equipment and paying CYO fees for twenty two St. John's sports teams (grades 5 through 8) such as volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, soccer, football, track, and  soft ball.

2. Sponsors all of the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scout Troops for St. John.

3. Supports various activities and events such as the 60/40 Drawing, Turkey Bingo,  Junior High dances, Skating Parties, and Popcorn Sales

4. Provides an 'end of the year' Sports Award Ceremony to recognize the dedication of our athletes and coaches.

In addition to these activities, the YAC gives back to the parish and school with an annual gift when funds are available.  In the past year, we were sponsor of the Homeless Walk, purchased 6 new tables and table truck for the PAC, mulch for the playground, balls, jump ropes and sidewalk chalk for the K-6 classrooms, new gym mats, stopwatches for science lab, and dust mops for the PAC.

The YAC is very proud of what it does for the youth of St. John's School!  Please look over our volunteer sheet and help wherever you can.  We thank you for your generous support.  The YAC board strongly believes the participation in these activates will help today's students become better leaders tomorrow!
